One of the benefits of living in College Terrace is that, no matter where you live, you’re never far from a park. College Terrace has four parks that date back to the neighborhood’s creation in the late 1880s.
Mayfield Park
Located on Wellesley, between California and College, Mayfield Park sits alongside the College Terrace Library, making it the perfect place to curl up with a good book on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The CTRA’s annual Spring and Fall picnics are usually held in this park. Originally named Hollywood Park, it was renamed in 1968 in honor of the former town of Mayfield.
Donaldina M. Cameron Park
Located on Wellesley, between College and Stanford, Cameron Park features a large open grassy area, children’s playground, and picnic table. Originally named Berkeley Park, it was renamed in 1968 for local resident Donaldina M. Cameron who was a Presbyterian missionary in San Francisco’s Chinatown.
Frederick W. Weisshaar Park
Located on Dartmouth, between California and College, Weisshaar Park has two tennis courts (resurfaced in 2016), a large open grassy area, and picnic table. Originally named Hampton Park, it was renamed in 1968 for local resident Frederick W. Weisshaar who, along with Peter Spacher, owned the land that became College Terrace before selling it to Alexander Gordon in 1887.
William C. Werry Park
Located on Dartmouth, between College and Stanford, Werry Park includes a large open grassy area, children’s playground, and picnic table. Originally named Eton Park, it was renamed in 1968 for William C. Werry who was a longtime Mayfield resident and Palo Alto’s Postmaster from 1924 to 1935.
All parks are closed from 10:30pm until sunrise. Learn more about park rules at the City of Palo Alto website.
